All extra-curricular activities for Herreid-Selby Area have been cancelled today (12/9). This includes the MS & HS GBB games, boys' BB practice, and any grade basketball practices or shoot arounds that were planned for the Herreid or Selby gyms this evening. Poor road conditions combined with the forecasted epic level winds this afternoon and evening will make it dangerous to put students on the road for these events. The makeup date for the HS GBB game against Aberdeen Christian is January 16 at Selby.
We ask the students, staff, and patrons to use caution this morning as you come to school. Please do not over drive road conditions. There is no concerns if you are late for school because of the road conditions. We will monitor the wind situation this morning and make a decision later about an early out due to a wind/road condition situation.
An additional JV Girls and JV Boys BB game has been added to the athletic schedule. The HSA JV Girls will play at Hoven on Tuesday, January 13. Tip-off is scheduled for 6:00 pm. The HSA JV Boys will play Hoven following the Girls' game.
There has been a change to tomorrow evening's MS GBB games in Eureka. The first game will still start at 6:00 pm, but the second game has been moved up to a 6:30 pm start time.
Reminder: With school being canceled today (11/25), there will be no extra-curricular activities, no sports practices, no open gym, no school related activities whatsoever. Staff and students are encouraged to stay off the roads and out of the school building. Stay safe!

Good morning - Due to poor visibility and deteriorating road conditions, the Herreid School will have a 10:00 AM start on Tuesday, Nov. 25. We will continue to monitor the situation as the state plows have time to get the slush off the highways and we reach the daylight hours, but as of now it is a 10:00 AM start for Herreid School.
2 messages for parents of GBB players: This evenings MS GBB games in Selby will be played in the Auxiliary Gym. Also, a reminder that there will be a parent meeting for parents/guardians of 9-12 GBB players. It is highly encouraged that the player and at least one parent attend the meeting which will be held in the Herreid School Gymnasium at 6:30 PM this evening.
MS GBB Changes: This evening's game against Mobridge is postponed and will be rescheduled. Tomorrow's game times (11/18) at Selby vs. Ipswich will be moved up to 3:30 and 4:30. The middle school GBB YTC Tourney scheduled for Saturday, November 22 has been moved to Saturday, December 13 @ 9:00 AM in Gettysburg. The middle school GBB games vs. Faulkton on Nov. 24 in Selby will be played at 5:30 & 6:30.
The MS GBB game to be played in Herreid this evening has been postponed to a future date. There will be a community meal for the VB team this evening in Herreid at the Community Center. Serving begins at 6:00 pm. School will dismiss tomorrow upon return of the K-12 student body from a Pep Rally in Selby. Estimated return time of 3:15 - 3:30. No school on Thursday and No workday on Friday.
State VB Reminders: T-shirt orders are due by noon today (11/14). A Community Meal for the VB team will take place at 6:00 pm on Monday (11/17) at the Herreid Community Center. A pep rally will be held at 2:15 on Tuesday (11/18) in the Selby Gymnasium.

Due to the Wolverine VB team playing in the state tournament next week, there will be NO school in Herreid on Thursday (11/20) and NO workday on Friday (11/21).

The MS GBB game at Wakpala today has been cancelled. The MS GBB team will have practice in Selby today. They will ride with the VB team and leave at 2:50 pm.
We have another SoDak 16 VB related announcement. A fan bus will be offered to any 6-12 grade student who wants to attend the SoDak 16 VB match in Ft. Pierre on Tuesday, November 11 at 7:00 pm, and doesn't have another means of getting to the VB match. Any 6-12 Herreid student who has an interest in riding the fan bus, must get a fan bus permission form on Monday morning, bring it home, get it signed by a parent/guardian, and return it to school on Tuesday morning. Good morning - Due to the Wolverine VB advancement to the SoDak 16 game which will be played on Veterans Day, we are making some changes to the Veterans Day activities which were to be held in the afternoon and evening of Veterans Day. The Veterans Day program will still be held at 10:00 am on Tuesday, November 11. School will be dismissed after the riderless horse portion of the program. The changes will involve the grades 6-12 military displays, the Veterans Day Open House and the Veterans Day Free-Will donation meal. The student military displays, and the Veterans Open House have now been moved to Monday, November 10 from 1:00 pm to 6:00 pm. The Veterans Day Free-Will Donation Meal will take place from 5:00 pm to 7;00 pm on Monday, November 10. The elementary students will have a normal school day on Monday, November 10th.

Message from Mr. Rice - With there being the final two regular season VB matches this week, and the playoff FB game on Thursday. This will be considered a "Spirit Week". Staff are welcome to wear jeans and casual clothing, with an emphasis on wearing Wolverine attire. Also, there will be a school wide sendoff for the FB team on Thursday.
