Due to the forecasted winds combined with the loose snow, the Herreid School will NOT be in session today (Wed, Jan. 21). There will also be NO extra-curricular activities in Herreid or Selby today. Once again, NO school in Herreid today.

The Herreid School will dismiss the students after 7th period (2:22 pm) on Thursday, January 22nd. The buses will run at that time. The basketball games with North Central will begin in Herreid at 3:30 pm on that day. The BBB games versus North Central have also been designated as Military/Veteran Appreciation Night.

Due to school closures today (1/16) in Selby and Mobridge, the MS BBB trifecta of games has been postponed. We are actively seeking a makeup date if possible.
Due to today's weather related school closure in Selby, we will postpone this evening's GBB game against Aberdeen Christian. We are feverishly working on a suitable makeup date. There will also be NO Wolverine BB practices today (1/16).
The teacher/student workday for Friday, Jan. 16 has been pushed back an hour to allow for daylight drive time. The teachers will have a meeting at 9:00 AM in the lunchroom and students may come to school at 9:30 AM for teacher assistance.
The JV BBB and JV GBB games scheduled for this evening (1/13) in Hoven have been postponed. A makeup date is pending.
Attention: This evening's GBB games (12/22) at Aberdeen Roncalli have been moved up to a 6:00 pm start time (JV game), with the varsity game to follow.
The Middle School Showcase will be held tomorrow morning from 8:30 AM- 9:30 AM in the gym and lunch room.
There will be NO SCHOOL in Herreid today (Thursday, December 18). Stay safe, stay warm, and hopefully the power is on before too long. As of now, school will be on time tomorrow morning.
Good evening! Due to the extreme wind warning for tomorrow morning and the potentially icy conditions in the morning, the Herreid School will have a 10:30 AM start tomorrow (12/18). With the buses being high profile vehicles and the predicted 55-65 mph wind gusts and icy roads, the school buses will NOT run their AM routes, but they will run the bus routes in the afternoon. Parents will be responsible for their children getting to school for the 10:30 AM start. As always, parents have the right to keep their children home if they feel the weather conditions warrant that decision. An alternative time tomorrow for the Middle School Showcase will be released in the morning.
The Herreid School will have a 10:30 AM start tomorrow (Thursday, Dec. 11) morning. The forecast calls for sleet, ice, snow, and difficult driving conditions tomorrow morning.
The Herreid School will dismiss today (12/9) at 1:00 PM. The buses will run at that time. The school will be shut down to all activities. Thank you and stay safe as you navigate the challenges of driving in winter weather conditions.
All extra-curricular activities for Herreid-Selby Area have been cancelled today (12/9). This includes the MS & HS GBB games, boys' BB practice, and any grade basketball practices or shoot arounds that were planned for the Herreid or Selby gyms this evening. Poor road conditions combined with the forecasted epic level winds this afternoon and evening will make it dangerous to put students on the road for these events. The makeup date for the HS GBB game against Aberdeen Christian is January 16 at Selby.
We ask the students, staff, and patrons to use caution this morning as you come to school. Please do not over drive road conditions. There is no concerns if you are late for school because of the road conditions. We will monitor the wind situation this morning and make a decision later about an early out due to a wind/road condition situation.
An additional JV Girls and JV Boys BB game has been added to the athletic schedule. The HSA JV Girls will play at Hoven on Tuesday, January 13. Tip-off is scheduled for 6:00 pm. The HSA JV Boys will play Hoven following the Girls' game.
There has been a change to tomorrow evening's MS GBB games in Eureka. The first game will still start at 6:00 pm, but the second game has been moved up to a 6:30 pm start time.
Reminder: With school being canceled today (11/25), there will be no extra-curricular activities, no sports practices, no open gym, no school related activities whatsoever. Staff and students are encouraged to stay off the roads and out of the school building. Stay safe!
